Bamboo Bay Resort

Bamboo Bay is a slightly quirky, wild and rustic resort, which rambles up the hillside overlooking Ao Mai Pai (Bamboo Bay), in the deep south of the island.

The 21, fan-only bungalows, all have hot-water showers and a private terrace that faces out over the, somewhat rocky, beach below.

Each bungalow is built a little differently to conform to the hillside and they’re dotted about rather randomly wherever the landscape allows. The bungalows are joined by a labyrinth of pathways and steps that meander through the untamed jungle.

The bungalows vary in size to sleep 2 to 6 people, which is great if you’re travelling in a group and on a budget.

Sea View Bungalows are fitted with double or twin beds and can take one extra bed, while Family Bungalows have two rooms, one with a double bed, the other with twin beds and a shared bathroom. An extra bed can be provided on request in each bedroom.

Each bungalow is fitted with fans to complement the cool sea breeze. A reading light, shelved cupboard and hanging rail are also provided. The bathrooms are all pretty basic, although they do have a hot water shower.

Bamboo Bay’s restaurant looks out over the sea with a large west-facing balcony, giving fantastic views of the spectacular Ko Lanta sunsets.

The menu offers a good selection of both Thai and western styles (with a Danish influence) – the locally caught, fresh seafood is a highlight.
